Ellie was just 1 when she fell ill. Initially she was lethargic and had a high temperature. Then a rash developed. Fortunately, Ellie pulled through. Mum Gaynor, from Kilbirnie in Ayrshire, shares their story in support of our No Plan B for MenB campaign.
“Ellie contracted meningococcal septicaemia at the age of 13 month.
“She was very poorly, to the point where the doctors didn’t think she going to make it. It’s every parent’s worst nightmare, watching your child fight for their life and knowing there is nothing you can do to help.
“Miraculously Ellie made a full recovery, amazing for a little girl who was on the brink of death and nearly lost limbs.
“We are forever grateful to all the medical staff that saved her and count our blessings as to how lucky we are to still have her in our lives.”
