300 warmly dressed attendees gathered at Gloucester Cathedral on Wednesday 26th November to soak up the magical atmosphere of our Christmas concert.
The poignant Tree of Remembrance glowed, decked all over with ribbons dedicated to loved ones lost to meningitis. One ribbon held the name of Alex and Clare’s daughter, Mia, who the couple lost at Christmas three years ago. They spoke bravely about their experience, moving many in the audience to tears.
We were also joined by inclusive theatre company, Twocan, the Chalford Band, and the I-Sing choir. We are so grateful to the performers who make the event so special. Thanks also to journalist Faye Hatcher who compered the evening and Sally Jenkinson, local poet, who read beautifully.
Always special
CEO Tom Nutt, who said: “It’s always special to be able to host our annual Christmas concert and this year was no exception. The range and quality of the performers, as well as the power of Alex and Clare sharing their story, reminded me why it is one of our most beloved events. The concert provides an important opportunity for so many to honour their loved ones, and to gather before Christmas with other people who understand the impact meningitis has.”
BBC Points West covered the evening, with interviews with Tom and founder Jane Wells.
