Family-run restaurant Arslanbey Kebab, Weybridge, hosted a special charity day on Saturday, 9th August in aid of Meningitis Now.
Known for its authentic Adana-style kebabs, and inspired by personal experiences of meningitis, the day raised more than £1,700.
Over 500 kebab wraps were given away on the day, with an extraordinary show of generosity from locals. An auction, with gifts including wine tours, a golf trip, boat hire, and even a holiday for four, raised a further £490.
Community spirit
The event was a true celebration of community spirit, with live music, laughter, and the irresistible aroma of fresh kebabs filling the air.
Omer, owner and chef of Arslanbey Kebab spoke about his personal motivation for supporting Meningitis Now:
"My brother had meningitis, so I know how serious and devastating it can be. This charity means a lot to my family, and I’m so grateful to everyone who came to help us make a difference."
Important cause
Joe, Omer’s step-son and a familiar face to regular customers, added:
"My wife also had meningitis, so this is something very close to our hearts. We can’t thank the Weybridge community enough for coming down, enjoying the food, and supporting such an important cause."
Joe is also taking on the London Marathon to raise funds for Meningitis Now. The money raised from the charity day and auction will go directly toward his fundraising target.
Arslanbey Kebab were recently nominated in the British Kebab Awards, at a reception hosted by Ibrahim Douglas and Sir Lindsay Hoyle at the Speakers House in the Houses of Parliament.
They progressed through the first stages and were announced as semi-finalists for the Best Newcomer Restaurant in the UK! Congratulations team!
