Nine-year-old Harrison lost his uncle Samuel to meningitis last year, so taking part in the competition and winning it meant a great deal to him and his family, particularly his grandmother and Samuel’s mother Bernadette.
Harrison’s colourful design featuring Santa hard at work delivering presents with his reindeer and sleigh caught our judges’ eyes from the many entries received. It is now available to purchase alongside our other cards for £3.50 for a pack of 10.
You can order your cards here. As always, all money raised goes towards our work and makes a huge difference to those impacted by meningitis.
Difficult choice
Nicole Silver, our Individual Giving Fundraising Officer and one of the competition judges, said: “We had many wonderful designs sent in for this year’s Christmas card competition and it was a difficult choice to select the winner, but Harrison’s bold and colourful illustration really stood out – congratulations Harrison, and we’re delighted to be able to share your design in Samuel’s memory.
“Thank you to everyone else who took the time and trouble to enter too – we appreciate your support.”
Harrison’s uncle Samuel, from Essex, was 34-years-old when he died from meningitis in April last year.
Speed of meningitis
His mother Bernadette told us: “I wish I had known more about the speed with which meningitis can affect a person’s health. I had no idea that within hours my son would no longer be with us.
“Losing Samuel has left a big hole in our hearts. Our lives will never be the same without him.”
