“We are proud of everyone involved and grateful to all who donated and supported us along the way.”

We’d like to say a huge well done and thank you to our good friends and supporters at Acacium Group, who recently took on and completed the London Landmarks Half Marathon for us (and to everyone else who took part in the event to help us fight back against meningitis).

Fifteen colleagues from Acacium Group took on the challenge to run 13.1 miles in memory of their much-missed colleague Andy Tibbs. Together, they raised over £9,000 towards our ongoing work.

The run was organised as a tribute to Acacium Group Business Development Director, Andy, who sadly passed away in April 2024. His sudden loss was deeply felt across the business and this challenge was a way for colleagues to come together and honour his memory in a meaningful and positive way.

Dusting off trainers

The team included experienced runners and those dusting off their trainers for the first time in a while.

Morgan Fry, our Fundraising Officer, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Acacium Group and the team of runners for your hard work in supporting us by taking on the London Landmarks Half Marathon.

“It's clear to us how loved Andy was by his friends and colleagues, and this is such a lovely way to honour his memory. The money and awareness you have raised in the past few months will really help us to make a difference – thank you.”

Significant achievement

Alex Ryan is Group Director of Service Development, who added: “Completing a half marathon is a significant physical and mental achievement. We’re hugely proud of our team’s dedication and determination, with one colleague crossing the finish line with a broken hip!

“Thanks go to the wider team who supported the event behind the scenes, including those who coordinated fundraising activities, the colleagues who came out to cheer on the day and those who kept everyone fuelled with cake. We were honoured to be joined by Andy’s wife and children, whose presence added extra meaning to the day.

“This event was a fitting tribute to a colleague who made a lasting impact on many. We are proud of everyone involved and grateful to all who donated and supported us along the way.”
