Thank you team Hoburne

6th February 2024

Thank you team Hoburne for your unwavering support of Meningitis Now and for choosing us to be your Charity of the Year for 2023.

Hoburne thank you

We’d like to say a huge thank you to Hoburne, Devon Bay as our partnership with them comes to an end…

The time has sadly come to wish a fond farewell to the team at Hoburne, Devon Bay, who have been fundraising for Meningitis Now as their Charity of the Year since January 2023.

We were delighted to be nominated by one of the holiday park’s department leads, whose baby son was diagnosed with meningitis over 20 years ago. Colleagues were so moved by his story that they chose to support Meningitis Now for the entirety of 2023. The team set out to raise £10,000 over the year and as the year ended, they had raised in excess of £12,000.

Fun-packed outdoor celebration

As well as a successful Charity Day in May, which raised almost £700 from activities such as an inflatable obstacle course, a tombola, book sale and pottery painting, the team hosted a further ‘Party in the Park’ fundraising event in July. Together with over 500 holiday-makers, they enjoyed a brilliant, fun-packed outdoor celebration, with live music, a hog roast, a Pimms stand and games, raising over £500.

Just a month later in August, a Sports Day was hosted, raising a further £300 and in September, Hoburne’s Food and Beverages Manager Chris, took to the skies with friends, to complete a hair-raising sky dive. Inspired by his team’s dedication to their Charity of the year, Chris was determined to raise as many donations as possible, which resulted in a fantastic total of over £500 being raised.

Collected at every opportunity

Throughout the rest of the partnership, Hoburne has collected donations for Meningitis Now at every opportunity, placing our collection tins throughout the park and championing their holiday-makers to give generously. In addition to all their amazing fundraising, Hoburne also donated the use of one of their caravans for families with an experience of meningitis to use for a much-needed break.

Richard Ridley, Park Manager at Hoburne Devon Bay, said: “We were thrilled to be able to support Meningitis Now as our selected charity throughout 2023. With deep personal meaning for many on our team, we take great pride in contributing to a cause that holds a special place in our hearts."

Cannot thank them enough

Our Senior Corporate Fundraiser, Laura Williams said:

“We cannot thank the wonderful team at Hoburne, Devon Bay enough. They have been incredible to work with. The whole team have been so dedicated to hitting their fundraising targets and have created so much fun for their holiday-makers in the process. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with Jacki, Richard and the team, and be able to join in at their events. Their support will be greatly missed and whichever charity they chose to support in 2024 will be really lucky to have them on board.”
