Our e-learning partner, Nimble, has presented us with their Charity Champion award.

Gloucestershire-based company, Nimble, develops online tools that make creating e-learning courses easy, approachable and affordable.

As well as using Nimble courses for our internal training, in May we developed a new learning module with the company. The 20-minute course, Bacterial Meningitis Awareness, was developed as part of our response to the meningitis outbreak in Kent.

As news about the outbreak broke, misinformation was everywhere. We knew we had a duty to get trusted information to those who needed it most. The module was written, designed, checked for disease accuracy and launched within a week so that it could be distributed to the schools and universities impacted by the outbreak.

The course is open access, and it is available to all audiences as part of our online resources.

Charity Champion Award

Our HR Manager, Laura Smith, along with Helpline nurse Caroline, attended the Nimble Community Day in Stroud last week.

We were delighted to learn that the module was shortlisted for the Nimble Charity Champion Award. Winners were announced at the Community Day, and we won!

As part of the case study session, Laura played Eliana’s video, which features in the learning module.

Laura said: “You could have heard a pin drop. It really brought home the reality of what can happen when meningitis strikes and was a powerful reminder of why the new meningitis course is so important. It became a real talking point throughout the rest of the day.”

Enrolled

Indeed, after the session, we learnt that security services company, Consortio Security, who also attended the Community Day, have enrolled all Consortio staff on to the meningitis course.

Consortio works in many student environments, and their security officers are often the first point of contact during out-of-hours emergencies, late-night welfare checks or incidents in halls of residence and student hubs. Spotting early warning signs and acting swiftly isn't just part of their job; it can save a life.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped bring our meningitis course together earlier this year. This award, and the learning module, is something we are incredibly proud of.
