Jodie M's story

“My mother Elizabeth started to notice I wasn't myself. I started being sick quite regularly and I was crying constantly.

I came out in a rash on my body.

“My mother took me to the doctors and they told her I had meningitis and I needed to get to the hospital as soon as I could to get treated. Eleven doctors were waiting for me at the hospital to get me treated as soon as possible. I spent a few weeks in hospital.

“Looking back at what happened, for my family this time was sad and quite heartbreaking for everyone. I recovered quite well and am grateful to be alive.

“I would love to raise awareness to help other families who are going or have been through this too.

“Having meningitis at three months old sounds terrifying but I got through it and that’s something to be proud of.”
