“Hello, my name is Nikki and I am 22-years-old.
“In May 1994 when I was born I was severely ill. I was in hospital for my first three months after being born eight weeks early. My mum was told it was meningitis, which then caused hydrocephalus. Doctors said I wouldn't survive and if I did I would never be a 'normal living child'. I wouldn't be able to do my school work to a high level.
Proved the doctors wrong
“However, I proved the doctors wrong. I passed exams in school and now I live on my own, working hard doing what I love.
“I have been in and out of hospital all my life so far with chronic headaches, blacking out, passing out, sickness, loss of vision and in the worst case fitting! I’ve had many operations, including having a shunt re-fitted to help the fluid on my brain.
“I always bounce back to my happy, energetic self and 99% of the time I live a normal life! I'd love to share my story and if anyone else has the same medical condition and symptoms I'd love to find out.”
