I love meeting the families and individuals that we support
A brief overview of your role – what are you responsible for?
I’m responsible for supporting our regional team of Community Support Officers in their roles, as well as providing direct support to families and individuals in the South East, East Midlands and East Anglia regions who have been impacted by meningitis.
The support for families and individuals can be over the phone, email, and via home visits, offering a listening ear and information, as well as through our Facebook Peer Support groups which offer a safe space to share experiences and support after bereavement.
I can signpost to other specialist support organisations, provide information for schools, workplaces and other professionals to help get the right support in place after meningitis. I also organise and support at our support events such as Family Days and Forever Events and can help with accessing our Rebuilding Futures Fund.
Your favourite part of your role
Meeting the families and individuals that we support and working within an incredibly dedicated and passionate team.
A fun fact about yourself
I’ve thrown tomatoes at thousands of people in broad daylight during the La Tomatina Festival - needless to say it was a very messy festival!
