Introducing Meningitis Now Safety Team member Geoff Howse
Day job - OCS at Bristol International Airport, helping people with reduced mobility through the airport and onto / off of aircraft.
What is the best part of being a Safety Team member? - My favourite part of being a safety team member is knowing that I have helped someone to reach their goal on the event and being able to share their experience.
I dislike it when - We leave Fort William at the end of the Three Peaks Challenge as it signals the end of yet another amazing event.
I like it when - The Three Peaks Challenge comes around as I know I will be in for another fantastic weekend come rain or shine and will be meeting some amazing, inspirational people.
Best piece of advice to someone starting their training? - My best advice is to start training as soon as possible, the fitter you are the more you will enjoy the experience. Follow the Meningitis Now kit list that is supplied as it is all essential. The correct footwear is the most important, if in any doubt then ask any of the Safety Team members for advice. Above all enjoy the Three Peaks Challenge.
Our UK treks and challenges couldn’t go ahead without our invaluable safety team and qualified mountain leaders. Each and every one of them retain expert knowledge, understanding and a passion for outdoor pursuits and the mountains we climb. They are on hand to ensure the wellbeing of our participants, navigating them through each trek safely and providing words of encouragement to help everyone complete their challenge.
