Who are Meningitis Now?
Meningitis Now has grown to become the UK’s leading meningitis charity. We have a proud history and know that we make a difference to the many people we exist for.
We have a clear vision of a future where no-one loses their life to meningitis and where everyone affected gets the support they need to rebuild their lives. We achieve this by:
- funding lifesaving and life-changing research
- raising awareness of meningitis and influencing policy
- providing support to people whose lives have been affected.
We have an impressive track record and have played a role in the falling number of meningitis cases in the UK since the 1990s – a reduction largely attributable to the development and introduction of vaccines into the NHS routine immunisation schedule.
But our work is not complete. We still see around 8,000 cases of meningitis in the UK, each year, and its impact can be devastating. Behind every statistic is a person, a family, and a story.
At Meningitis Now, we are here to provide emotional, practical and financial support to help people rebuild their lives.
This year, we will be celebrating 40 years of saving lives and rebuilding futures since our charity was founded in 1986.
