Explaining meningitis

We know you aren’t all scientists so we won’t bore you with too much detail. But we do want you to be safe so it’s important to know the basic facts.

Our brain and spinal cord is surrounded by membranes which act as a protective barrier. When organisms, such as bacteria and viruses, cause these membranes to become inflamed, this is known as meningitis. Meningitis is something you could face at any age or time.
