I enjoy seeing the results of research we have funded being put to practical use
A brief overview of your role - what are you responsible for?
I am responsible for all aspects of research:
- Ensuring we fund high quality research that links to the charity’s vision; a future where no one in the UK loses their life to meningitis and everyone affected gets the support they need to rebuild their lives
- Monitoring the progress of research projects funded by the charity
- Communicating the results and potential impact of our projects – to staff, supporters and other stakeholders
- Keeping up to date with meningitis research in the UK and worldwide
Your favourite part of your role
Seeing the results of research we have funded being put to practical use. For example, the MOSAIC study showed the true impact of MenB disease in children and young people and it provided evidence that has helped children get better support at school.
A fun fact about yourself
I have climbed an active volcano – Mt Stromboli – very exciting to stand at the edge of the crater in the dark and see the molten lava bubbling away.
How you can be contacted
I work part time - usually Mondays and Wednesdays. Email me at JaneB@meningitisnow.org or call Meningitis Now's head office on 01453 768 000.
