Help us celebrate this Christmas

18th November 2023

There are lots of ways for you to get involved this Christmas.

As we gear up for the festive period, we would like to highlight some of the significant ways you can support us to bring hope and peace to people who have experienced meningitis.

Meningitis Now Christmas cards

We have a lovely festive collection of Christmas cards which are now on sale. This year the choice of card design lay in the hands of our Community Ambassadors. A poll was put to them when they met back in the summer, and we hope you agree that they have chosen the perfect mix of jolly and bright designs.

All cards are available in packs of 10 (envelopes included). Order by phone on 01227 811 638 or visit the website. Please allow 14 days for delivery.

Caroline Gardner Christmas cards

Our partners Caroline Gardner Publishing have released their amazing Christmas card range, with 25p from each pack sold donated to Meningitis Now. As usual, Caroline Gardner’s signature designs and statement illustrations lend themselves to saying Happy Christmas in the most stylish way. You can get yours here.

Caroline and her husband Angus chose to support Meningitis Now through their business after their youngest son Sebastian contracted meningococcal septicaemia when he was just 18 months old.

Gloucester carol concert

We would love to see you at our annual Christmas celebration concert at Gloucester Cathedral on the 29 November. Come along to sing heartwarming carols as well as to hear about how your support will allow us to continue helping families who have been bereaved by meningitis.

Jessica Vickery, whose story features in this year’s Ribbon Appeal, will be joining us at the Cathedral to speak about her experience of losing her husband Josh to pneumococcal meningitis in 2021. As well as this moving address, we will hear performances from the Chalford Band, The Rock Choir and the talented pupils from Highnam C of E Primary Academy.

Tickets are available to buy via our concert webpage or by phoning 01453 768000.

Tickets £12 - Group of 4 tickets £40.

Each ticket includes entry to the concert and a programme.

Doors open at 7pm.

Ribbon Appeal

Our annual Ribbon Appeal, which we launch to coincide with our Christmas concerts, offers bereaved families a moment to remember loved ones by including a white ribbon on our remembrance tree and for supporters to help us continue our vital services.

Thanks to donations in support of Ribbon we can continue offering essential services to families facing bereavement. Especially at times like Christmas, it’s very important to us to offer an empathetic ear through our nurse-led Helpline or Community Support Officer visits, and through our Facebook support groups.

To donate to our Ribbon appeal please visit the Ribbon Appeal webpage.

Support at Christmas

We know that Christmas can be a difficult time for a lot of people, and we want to remind you that we are here for anyone who has experienced meningitis, whether directly or indirectly. Visit our support pages to find out more about how we can support you in the festive period.

We’d like to take the opportunity to thank all our supporters for your ongoing dedication to ensuring we can continue our vital work. We wish you and your families a peaceful Christmas.
